Copenhagen and the time of slavery

The sugarplantations in Danish West Indies made a small group of people unbelievably rich. Many of them lived in the new district ”Frederiksstaden”.

On our 2 hours city walk we will see the mansions where the biggest plantation- and slave owners lived. We will also see the Marble church, the Queen’s castle and the West Indian warehouse before we finish the tour at the Customhouse.

Hear the interesting stories about Schimmelmann, the richest man in the north in the 18th century, about the slavetrader Bargum who went bankrupt, about uprise on slave ships and in the West Indies, and about Jonatan – the man who stole himself.
